Nokia switches to open-source browser in phones

Nokia is working with Apple to provide an open-source smart phone browser. Utilising components from Apple’s Safari web browser, Nokia will combine Nokia’s Series 60 platform with the WebCore and JavaScript components used in Safari. Nokia aims to provide the new browser to all its Series 60 licensees, meaning that phone makers such as Samsung and Panasonic will have the new software by 2006.
