Microsoft releases WinFS Beta

WinFS
Microsoft today released the beta version of WinFS (Windows File System). WinFS, which was originally scheduled to be released with Windows Longhorn (Vista) was pulled from the forthcoming release last year.

Microsoft is adding support for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) for WinFS. Indeed, Beta 1 only works on XP. When installed, you see a new top-level object in My Computer called WinFS Stores. Inside of this storage area, which can be accessed by any existing Windows application as if it were the native file system, you can create and organize individual data stores.[via]

Google Talk Tweaks

Although, I have been unsuccessful to connect to Google talk but could find these gr8 tweaks for Google Talk .

Wumpus Game - If you add the buddy wumpus.game@gmail.com you can play the classic text-based game.

Change the font size - While holding the control key, move the scrollwheel on your mouse either up or down. This trick works while being focused in either the read or write area.

Insert linebreaks - If you want to have a message that spans multiple paragraphs, just hold shift and hit enter. You can add as many new lines as you want to create.

Style text - Also noted by a GoogleRumors commenter, you can make text either bold or italic by surrounding it with * or _. (Example: _this_ is italic.)

Switch windows - Hitting tab will cycle through open windows. It will select minimized conversations, to expand them just hit enter. If you just want to cycle through IMs and don’t care about the buddy list, control-tab will do that and will automatically expand a minimized conversation if you settle on one.

           Swatantrata Divas ki haardik Shubhkaamnayein

The great Indian Netas?

Today while leaving for office and trying to see some meaningful programme, got to see the Poll Khol, a program from Shekhar Suman on Star news.

The show was about the GK of our great (?) Indian Leaders who do not know the difference between the Rashtra Gaan the National Anthem and Rashtriya Geet the national song . The leaders who were interviewd were from SP, RJD and even from BJP. And not to mention, no one passed the test.

The best answer was from Sadhu Yadav who said Jhanda uncha rahe hamara is our Rashtra geet and Jan Gan Man is just a prayer.

For those who do not know here is our Rashtra Gaan, the National Anthem

=== Jan Gan Man ===

Jana Gana Mana Adhinayaka Jaya He
Bharat Bhagya Vidhata
Punjab Sindh Gujarat Maratha
Dravida Utkala Banga
Vindhya Himachal Yamuna Ganga
Ucchala Jaladhi Taranga
Tabh Shubha Naave Jaave
Tabh Shubha Ashisha Mange
Gaaye Tabh Jaya Gatha
Jan Gan Mangaldayak Jay He
Bharat Bhagya Vidhata
Jaye He ! Jaye He ! Jaye He !
Jaye,Jaye,Jaye,Jaye He

And Rashtra geet the national sonag is here

=== Vande matram ===

Vande Mataram! Vande Mataram!

Sujalam, suphalam, malayaja sheetalam
Shasyashyamalam, Mataram!

Vande Mataram!

Shubhrajyothsna pulakitayaminim
Phullakusumita drumadala shobinim

Suhasinim sumadhura bhashinim,
Sukhadam varadam, Mataram!

Vande Mataram! Vande Mataram!

The RED button Test

Yes its true!, Microsoft owns the copy right of Podcasting. Not exactly the term podcasting but the technology. The patent was for " an application to generate playlists for a library collection of media items via selecting a plurality of seed items, at least one which is an undesirable seed item"

The Blogoratti beckons

The Times of India, Delhi Edition has covered a story on blogs, excerpts
The blogosphere is continuing to grow, with a weblog created every second, according to blog trackers Technorati. In its latest State of the Blogosphere report, it said the number of blogs it was tracking now stood at more than 14.2m blogs, up from 7.8m in March. It suggests, on average, the number of blogs is doubling every five months.
Blogs, the homepages of the 21st century, are free and easy to set up and use. They are popular with people who want to share thoughts online. They allow for the instant publication of ideas and for interactive conversations, through comments, with friends or strangers

What is clear is that the blogosphere is highly varied, with blogs coming in many shapes and forms, whether they be professional or for personal use. Blogs have been used as campaign sites, as personal diaries, as art projects, online magazines and as places for community networking. They have played a part in highlighting issues that journalists have not covered. They have recently shown how they can also complement and enhance mainstream press in coverage of events, such as the recent London terror attacks.

And here comes the Yahoo! Adsense

To compete with Google, Yahoo has also introduced the Adsense named Yahoo! Publisher Network(YPN). Although, it is in beta mode.

One of the products in Yahoo's beta is Content Match, which allows publishers to place contextually relevant listings on their sites and receive a part of the revenue generated by them. Another feature, "Add to My Yahoo," is designed to let them promote and distribute their content on Yahoo via RSS (Really Simple Syndication) to drive traffic to their sites.

But if you wish to join the YPN then you must be a resident of the U.S., with valid U.S. Social Security or Tax ID number.

So, what next? Google Messenger or Yahoo Earth ;)
